Tuscany in luxury yacht charter

Tuscany by yacht with Sea & Sea Charters

Yacht tours are usually associated with Sicily or Sardinia or the Gulf of Naples, or maybe Liguria.

But Tuscany is also a major destination to be discovered with the Tuscan Riviera yacht itinerary proposed by Sea & Sea Charters. Let’s see what are the highlights tourists who wish to visit Tuscany from the sea should not miss.

Tuscany by yacht: discovering Viareggio

Viareggio can be immediately recognised by its sea and the peaks of the Apuan Alps, and everyone loves to stroll through its narrow streets, enjoy an ice cream in the pine wood and reach the wild beach of Lecciona or end their day on the coast with a dinner at one of the popular restaurants in the town.

Viareggio is known for being the most important city of Versilia and a gateway to the sea of Lucca, which owes its name to the via regia, the road that, in the Middle Ages, connected the city to the sea.

A tour of Porto Santo Stefano

Another major destination of our yacht holiday in Tuscany is Porto Santo Stefano , which can be reached by crossing Porto del Valle by sea, with connections to the islands of Giglio and Giannutri, pleasure boats and the fleet of fishing boats. Here, in the middle of the afternoon, you will see the fishermen landing and bringing fresh fish; then, you can reach the Lungomare dei Navigatori and Porto della Pilarella, and maybe take a tour of the aquarium with the typical Mediterranean marine environment.

Walking along the seafront, you will see the Golfo dell’Argentario, and, at the end of the street, the heart of Porto Santo Stefano, Piazza dei Rioni, where you can have an aperitif or spend the night. In the summer, you will also have fun watching children dive into the waters of this small port.

Punta Ala: a fairy-tale-like promontory

Your next stop will be Punta Ala (link alla pagina), the southernmost promontory of the Gulf of Follonica, in Maremma and in the municipality of Castiglione della Pescaia. The promontory overlooks the sea and is characterised by a shape that resembles a wing, from which it takes its name, and is covered with Mediterranean vegetation. You will be amazed by its crystal clear sea and by its beach with fine sand, which includes both areas with lidos and free areas. Being a sandy beach, Punta Ala is also suitable for families with children.

Other highlights of your holiday in Tuscany

Those who visit Tuscany can discover the amazing nature of Orbetello WWF Oasis, the lagoon with its marshy vegetation covering an area of 300 hectares and its Salicornia.

Finally, you should not miss Monte Argentario, which has always hosted the Argentario Sailing Week, an unmissable event for sailing enthusiasts. It is a three-day regatta during which classic and vintage yachts compete in the waters of the Tuscan sea at the end of June, when the winds are stronger.
